Job Summary:
Ascension Data Delivery and Governance group within Ascension Technologies (AT) seeks a Sr. Analyst to join our Cloud Data Operations team. This role administers day-to-day operational support of various projects within the Google Cloud; Focus on analyzing, documenting, and improving cloud environments while assisting engineering teams with new technology assessments and best practice implementations. Must be able to understand and implement enterprise cloud data architecture designs, and will work closely with the Agile/scrum team and business partners to identify, evaluate, design, and implement large scale data solutions. This role includes various SME responsibilities, including identifying and troubleshooting issues, finding their resolution, and/or escalation supporting follow-up efforts. Ascension is transitioning to a DevOps and SRE organization, so we are looking for a Sr. Analyst who will have a strong analytical mindset, a passion for research and innovation, and the ability to document complex cloud architectures and workflows in a clear, structured manner..
Responsibilities
- The Cloud DataOps team will be a production readiness steward for the Data platforms by managing, mitigating, or elevating awareness of the business risk of all customer interactions with GCP technology platforms.
- We accomplish this by linking every technology recommendation with a business value, continuously monitoring platform health indicators, and elevating awareness when one of our main objectives is at risk
- Stay updated with the latest GCP advancements, DevOps tools, and cloud-native technologies.
- Conduct research and comparative analysis of cloud technologies, services, and tools to support decision-making.
- Evaluate emerging cloud security, automation, and cost-optimization strategies.
- Work closely with architects and engineers to identify and recommend new technologies that align with business needs.
- Support daily operations with a distinct focus on triage, impact mitigation, and root cause identification through a depth of knowledge of corresponding products
- Monitor and analyze GCP service usage, performance, and cost trends, providing insights for optimization.
- Act as a liaison between engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of cloud strategies and decisions.
- Support infrastructure and security audits by gathering relevant technical data and documentation.
- Centralizing points of interaction for both internal and external partners by communicating effectively with all key stakeholders
- Align Product and Customer Focused priorities with Operational needs
- Contribute to efforts to Protect and Enable teams responsible for implementing DevOps practices, production readiness, and compliance for Ascension Core Data Applications
- Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement
- Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
- Manage, implement, enhance, and enforce consistent company and department Security Ops practices
- Deliver time-saving process improvements that will be repeatable, maintainable, valuable, and fit into the Operations vision
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Background in DevOps practices a distinct advantage
- Background in Operation Support model creation or design
- Basic proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and hands-on experience with Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or Ansible.
- Experience in Cloud technologies, preferably Google Cloud, alternatively AWS or Azure
- High energy and ability to influence others
- Strong understanding of all phases of a Software Development Life Cycle
- Exceptional communication skills
- Self-motivated and highly collaborative
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
- A systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
- Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences
Preferred:
- 5+ years of IT career-level experience preferred
- 3+ years of working in a Cloud environment
- Experience with GCP-specific services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, IAM and GKE and ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and ensure the stability of these services in production environments
- Proven track record in cost optimization and resource management within GCP.
- Ability to analyze cloud architecture, security policies, and performance metrics to provide meaningful insights.
- Experience with technical research, proof-of-concept evaluations, and presenting findings to engineering teams.
- Familiarity with cloud security frameworks and regulatory compliance best practices.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and hands-on experience with Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or Ansible.
- Healthcare industry experience is preferred
- Experience with Striim is a plus
- Experience with Agile concepts, with methods of planning and organizing work
