Responsibilities

The role on the Data Interoperability team, under the Ascension Data Delivery & Governance (ADDG) organization within Ascension Technologies, will be responsible for contributing towards and executing Ascension’s data acquisition strategy external (i.e., non-Ascension) data.

  • Partner with business and clinical stakeholders to identify external data exchange requirements with key trading partners across the healthcare ecosystem
  • Support the development of an enterprise Data Interoperability & Exchange strategy to deliver a set of technical solutions in support of clinical objectives that are part of the strategic plan
  • Analyze the data landscape on where and how external data can be accessed or procured -- for example National and Regional data exchange networks & HIEs, proprietary networks, point to point exchange, etc.-- based on data types and needs, distribution and reach, or other factors
  • Implement and manage data exchange technologies capable of accessing external data through networks and/or strategic partner organizations
  • Deploy and manage data from these acquisition & exchange points as leveraged assets for Ascension
  • Understand the Ascension technology environment -- including applications, systems and data platforms into which external data will be made available through defined architectural patterns, such as real-time HL7, FHIR, API, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees information systems activities and resources.
  • Develops departmental goals, plans and standards consistent with the technological, clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares departmental budgets and ensures the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Directs and evaluates all departmental activities including research, design and development of new technologies, service level determination and complaint management.
  • Develops partnership with senior management. Works with other senior managers and senior users in strategic technology issues.
  • Establishes strategic direction and oversight in order to ensure that technology resources will be optimized and expenses managed.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
