Job Title: Part-Time Custodian FLSA: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Department: Facility Maintenance Reports to: Parks & Recreation Director
Salary Range: 12.00/hr.

General Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Parks & Recreation director and performs semi-skilled, skilled and technical maintenance in maintaining the city facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Uses janitorial equipment and cleaning supplies/chemicals to maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the building in all public and staff areas, including outdoor trash cans and picking up trash from grounds.
  • Maintains janitorial areas and products in line with OSHA standards; safely use cleaning chemicals and solvents.
  • Notifies supervisor, verbally or in writing, of building conditions needing repairs.
  • Monitors levels of cleaning supplies and paper products.
  • Cleans glass, windows, doors, light switches, walls and drinking fountains.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  • Quickly learn janitorial procedures;
  • Operate an automotive vehicle safely in a variety of weather conditions and in accordance with state laws;
  • Lift, move and maneuver hand-powered cleaning equipment weighing up to 50 pounds safely;
  • Work independently or cooperatively as a member of a team to complete work on schedule and according to quality control standards;
  • Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Identify and recommend improved methods of performing the work;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, building occupants and the public;
  • Provide quality services in a cost-effective manner;
  • Physically perform the essential functions of the job; including bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and working safely from ladders.
  • Attend work on a regular and dependable basis;
  • Maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and a safe driving record.






Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination experience or education which would demonstrate the ability to perform the work; physical strength and agility required by the position.

Tools and Equipment:
Floor buffers, steam cleaners, vacuum, mops, brooms, and dusting equipment.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift weights up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, or moderately noisy when in the field.
