Job Title: Recreation Center Coordinator FLSA: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $17.33-$18.96

General Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Rec Center Director. Performs a variety of duties concerned with the management, operation, supervision, and other activities of the Claremore Recreation Center. Plans, organizes and coordinates recreation programs for seniors, adults, and / or youth, including cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes and summer programs.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises part-time staff, special interest instructors, seasonal employees, and volunteers. Directly responsible for Child Care operations and scheduling, Front Desk operations, and second shift and weekend scheduling.
- Performs a variety of duties concerned with the management, operation, supervision, and other activities of the Claremore Recreation Center.
- Plans, organizes and coordinates recreation programs for seniors, adults, and / or youth, including cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes and summer programs.
- Responsible to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
- Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, new releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.
- Coordinates sports programs, collects fees where applicable, and assigns practice times.
- Schedules activities and runs various tournaments throughout the year, such as basketball, pickleball, women’s volleyball, and co-ed volleyball, birthday parties, gymnasium usage, tennis courts, and adult / youth leagues.
- Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering the phone, email, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, make arrangements for rental and use of the Recreation Center, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, janitorial duties, etc.
- Supervises and assist Recreation Leaders in the performance of daily activities and janitorial duties as needed; order supplies for the facility.
- Recruits new members, promotes interest and provides information regarding the Recreation Center and associated recreation programs to school officials, area business, community service groups, other City of Claremore Departments, and the general public.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of part-time and seasonal staff.
- Responsible for training and supervising Front Desk employees.
- Prepares and makes daily bank deposits and balances revenue sheets on a daily basis.
- Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Considerable knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning and administration; considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation programs; Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment; skill in first aide and CPR. Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in a community recreation program; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; ability to communicate effectively both oral and in writing; ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in recreation or a closely related field.
- Two years recreation experience including community recreation center programming; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License or ability to obtain one. Certified in CPR and First-Aid
Tools and Equipment:
Personal computer, including word processing software; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; mobile or portable radio; automobile; cleaning equipment, and various sports equipment used in recreation program.
Physical Demands:
Extended periods of standing, sitting, listening, speaking, eye-hand coordination, walking, stooping, crawling, and reaching.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.
