Full job description

Must be able to work in a team. Must be self-motivated, dependable, and can work over 40 hours when needed. Must be able to work at a high pace while keeping safety as the #1 priority. Must be able to listen and learn from others. Must be able to work on a task without sacrificing quality.

  • 6 Months / Entry level: (less than 6 months generally considered temp/new hire)
  • Number of weld positions qualified for Code stamp approval (1G, 2G, 3G, 6G): Qualified in 1 position
  • Number of qualified welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW): Qualified for 1 process
  • Ability to weld various materials (CS, SS, Chrome, Inco): Qualified for 1 material
  • Average weld repair rate, as measured by NDE (XR, UT): Less than 10% rejection
  • Average header fit-up rejection rate, as measured by QC and per ASME standards and fabrication drawings: Less than 10% rejection
  • Ability to fit-up all aspects of a header (plug box and cover plate): Not required but a willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in cutting processes (carbon arc, plasma cutter): Not required but a willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in repairing failed weld joints, as measured by NDE: Not required but a willingness to learn

Common Job Responsibilities

  • Must be able to read weld procedures for required parameters and use them accordingly.
  • Must be able to read prints for weld procedures, weld sizes and dimensions.
  • Must be willing to step outside of preferred welding style when company’s need arises to perform tasks such as fitting nozzles, wrapper plates, etc.
  • Willingness to follow company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Must be able to work with QC to ensure quality is maintained on all projects.
  • Must be able to operate overhead cranes / jib cranes and have rigging knowledge.

Physical requirements

Employees will be required to sit, stand, walk, twist, kneel and crouch for extended periods and in all seasons in a climate control limited environment. Employees will also use their hands and arms in repeated motions and occasionally work in elevated positions. Employees may be required to safely lift items up to 50 pounds. Employees may work in high noise levels and near exposed fumes or particles, thus must be able to wear required PPE.
