ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manufacturing BOM Planner/Engineering Document Control Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) and managing the release, revision, distribution, and archival of engineering documents to ensure accurate material requirements, efficient production planning, and smooth execution on the shop floor. This role reports to engineering and acts as the bridge between engineering design, supply chain, and manufacturing operations to ensure products are built correctly and efficiently.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) into a procurement ready MBOM.
  • Ensure BOM accuracy in Syteline ERP system
  • Collaborate with the team to align BOM with routing, SNDS, and assembly sequences.
  • Support production readiness by ensuring material is available prior to build start.
  • Evaluate and resolve BOM-related issues impacting production.
  • Identify material discrepancies and obsolete or duplicate parts.
  • Coordinate with procurement and material planning teams to manage sourcing, lead times, and substitutes.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives by analyzing part usage, consolidation opportunities, and design-for-manufacture recommendations.
  • Process and implement change orders into the MBOM.
  • Communicate changes across manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Maintain traceability and documentation integrity through all product lifecycle phases.
  • Maintain clean and accurate data within ERP system.
  • Create & issue SNDS-OS (Order summary) and SNDS (Serial Number Data Sheets)
  • Track changes to PO’s, tags, paint & serial numbers & update -OS / SNDS
  • Maintain data in ETS Engineering Dashboard
  • Standardize BOM practices and contribute to best-practice documentation.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 2+ years working with BOMs, product structures, or manufacturing documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Syteline, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly flows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills across engineering, production, and supply chain teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD data review (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc).
  • Ability to read mechanical or electrical drawings.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Office environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, PPE as required
