Job Summary
The Environmental Coordinator Consultant is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant and project scope. Responsibilities include ensuring direct reports meet performance and development goals, providing training, guidance and other necessary support to business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental requirements, identifying applicable environmental requirements associated with Company assets and projects, and coordinating with the appropriate business unit staff, Environmental Services representatives, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.The Environmental Coordinator Consultant should have an expert level understanding of all the following environmental programs and be able to train and mentor Environmental Coordinators:
• Above ground and underground storage tanks
• Transportation of hazardous materials
• Solid and hazardous waste management
• Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
• Wastewater, storm water, groundwater, and drinking water sampling, reporting and control
• Oil and chemical spill response and management
• Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting
• Asbestos and PCB management
• Pollution prevention
• Environmental site assessments
• Emergency planning, and community right-to-know.
Key competencies of this position are technical expertise, planning and organization ability, problem solving, written and oral communication skills and initiative. Must be able to work autonomously and with no supervision and assume manager responsibilities in the absence of direct management.

What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate and implement all environmental activities and policies in the assigned region(s) to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals. Assist and provide input to Environmental Services on the development of Company environmental policies and procedures. Communicate deviations appropriately.
- Provide training, instruction, and assistance to others on the implementation of environmental requirements and lead in the development of environmental training materials.
- Provide support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies.
- Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.
- Provide support during environmental compliance reviews, Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects.
- Coordinate and respond to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
- Develop and maintain environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards.
- Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities and manage contracts associated with Environmental Services.
- Ensure direct reports meet job expectations. Motivate direct reports by providing feedback and skills development as well as performing administrative duties associated with the management of direct reports such as time approval and performance evaluations.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: Minimum of sixteen years of environmental experience with an associate degree or fourteen years of environmental experience with a bachelor’s degree.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license
Physical demand ranges from sedentary to light duty.
Additional Requirements (Preferred Qualifications)
Must possess expert knowledge in the competencies of the programs listed in the job summary above.
Travel time ranges from 20% - 40% and will include overnight stays on occasion.
Must be available by phone after work hours and weekends; frequency is minimal.
