POSITION SUMMARY: The Float Teller provides excellent customer service while accurately and efficiently processing transactions in accordance with RCB Bank policies and procedures and within regulatory requirements. This role supports branches across a specified region by filling staffing gaps and assisting locations experiencing increased transaction volume or temporary staff shortages. The Float Teller is responsible for upholding consistent customer service standards, maintaining strong fraud-prevention awareness, and promoting products and services that enhance the customer’s banking experience, regardless of assigned branch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Obtains customer identification, signatures, and any other required information; records and processes all transactions according to regulations, procedures, and established controls at any branch location assigned.
- Examines cash, checks, and other supporting documents to verify authenticity, identify potential fraud or suspicious activity, and to protect the bank from financial/reputational loss. Follows established escalation procedures when encountering unusual or irregular transactions.
- Professionally assists customers with questions and concerns during transactions; provides accurate information and refers customers to supervisors or appropriate departments when additional expertise is required.
- Supports customer satisfaction and retention by identifying customer needs and promoting Bank products and services that may enhance their banking experience. Maintains familiarity with offerings across the Bank’s footprint to provide consistent service.
- Balances cash drawer daily while adhering to branch-level controls. Promptly researches discrepancies and reports any outages to the supervisor.
- Quickly adapts to different branch environments, staffing structures, and operational workflows. Supports branch team members as needed to ensure efficient and consistent customer service delivery.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous cash-handling experience
- Previous experience as a Float Teller a plus
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Successful completion of teller training program after hire
JOB-SPECIFIC SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to learn and explain RCB Bank products and services
- Strong organizational, clerical, and process skills
- Working knowledge of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong reading comprehension, written communication, and basic math skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accuracy in changing environments
- Understanding of basic fraud indicators and commitment to proper escalation procedures
- Flexibility to work at multiple branch locations is required
