Job Description
Direct Hire - 1 Weekend Night Shift and 1 Night shift available. A radial drill operator sets up and operates radial drilling machines to create precise holes in metal or other materials, reads blueprints, selects appropriate tools and speeds, performs quality control checks using measuring instruments, performs routine maintenance, and adheres to safety protocols. The role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and sometimes experience with basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.

- Machine Operation:Set up and operate radial drilling machines to drill, bore, and ream metal and other materials according to technical specifications.
- Blueprint Reading:Study blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements, material specifications, and hole locations.
- Tooling and Setup:Select the appropriate drill bits, cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates for each job.
- Workpiece Handling:Position and secure workpieces on the machine's table using clamps, jigs, or other holding devices.
- Quality Control:Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify the accuracy and quality of drilled holes and machined parts.
- Machine Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic troubleshooting on the radial drill machine to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
- Safety:Adhere to all company safety policies and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Blueprint Reading:Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Mechanical Aptitude:Good mechanical understanding and the ability to work with tools and equipment.
- Attention to Detail:Strong focus on precision to ensure high-quality and accurate drilling operations.
- Measurement Skills:Proficiency in reading tape measures and using precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Mathematical Aptitude:Strong math skills, especially with decimals, are essential.
- Physical Stamina:Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and handle heavy materials.
- Collaboration:Effective communication skills to work with other team members and follow instructions.
- Troubleshooting:Ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during machine operation.
