Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating inbound logistics activities for raw materials shipped through third-party logistics (3PL) providers. The Inbound Logistics Coordinator works closely with Purchasing and vendors to prioritize and schedule inbound loads to the designated laydown yard. This role ensures timely and efficient movement of raw materials, maintains accurate updates in the Transportation Management System (TMS), Third-party plate storage vendors inventory and plate movement, and monitors vendor performance through scorecards. The position supports supply chain efficiency by aligning inbound logistics activities with production and operational needs.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate inbound shipments of raw materials with 3PL providers, ensuring schedules align with production and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain vendor performance scorecards, tracking timeliness, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Monitor carrier performance and resolve any service or scheduling issues that impact inbound deliveries.
  • Communicate with vendors, carriers, purchasing, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear expectations and timely execution.
  • Adhere to transportation policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, including DOT regulations.
  • Provide reporting and analysis of inbound logistics metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Work directly with shaft line and small parts dispatchers to schedule plate deliveries that coincide with scheduled shop order dates
  • Provides backfill and coordination to shaft line and small parts dispatching
  • Work with IT team to roll out new material movement tools and applications in IFS to ensure accuracy of all plate deliveries and system transactions
  • Work closely with vendors, cycle counters, warehousemen, receivers, and Site Controller to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Daily updates and meetings with third-party vendors to track all inbound shipments to OK OPS
  • Work with purchasing and other sites to verify plate allocations and movement for ICO’s to outside vendors and site

Other Important Details About The Role
  • Supports freight auditing and invoice verification for inbound shipments as needed.
  • Prepares special projects related to inbound freight cost analysis, vendor performance, and process improvement.
  • Utilizes freight rating and coordinating software, TMS, and related tools to manage inbound logistics.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication to interface with Purchasing, Operations, vendors, and carriers.
  • Support, train, and back fill for all dispatcher roles in PC department.
  • Work with cycle counters, Materials Manager, and Controller to verify inventory at outside plate storage facility

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of relevant logistics or supply chain experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize inbound shipments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in TMS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to track, analyze, and report vendor and carrier performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and follow-through.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • Experience coordinating inbound raw material shipments with 3PLs.
  • Previous experience developing vendor performance scorecards.

Working Environment And Physical EffortsIncumbent must be able to work in an office setting. This position may require the incumbent to work outside during all seasons of the year, in various manufacturing and storage areas, as well as office environments. As a result the position may require walking, standing, lifting, and stooping. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk, hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
