Job Description
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Analyzes customer specifications, develop strip layouts, sets up and operates machine tools, fits and assembles tooling to support production processes i.e. metalworking dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauging. Abide by company policies and procedures and interact with all employees in a positive and fair manner, in alignment with Company core values.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: (Minimum education, training, skills and experience)
Must be able to safely operate various machine tools; set-up and trouble-shooting skills required. Shop equipment includes milling machines, lathes, saws, drill press, grinding equipment etc. Must be able to perform inspection functions utilizing inspection and measuring equipment (such as calipers, micrometers, depth mics, drop indicators, pin gages, thread gages, profilometers, and functional gages). Ability to use CMMs or optical comparator required. Must be able to build, assemble, and trouble shoot production progressive tooling with available customer requirements.
JOB ELEMENTS:

2. Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
3. Draws preliminary sketches and prepares layout and detail drawings.
4. Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
5. Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
6. Fit and assemble parts together into assemblies and mechanisms, verifying all dimensions, alignments and clearances.
7. Understand basic wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics and install electrical and hydraulic components.
8. Trouble shoots dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
9. Maintain all tools, dies, and fixtures with accurate documentation and records.
