Job Description
Saw Operator Trainee - night shift 5pm - 3:30am Training to operate CNC Saw Sets up, operates, and maintains manufacturing equipment to produce goods. Their core duties involve loading raw materials, calibrating settings, monitoring production runs, and inspecting finished products for quality. They also perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and ensure strict safety compliance. Core Responsibilities
- Setup & Preparation: Prepare machinery for daily operation by calibrating controls, cleaning parts, and ensuring all safety guards are in place
- Material Handling: Load raw materials, components, or printed rolls into the machine manually or with the help of automated loaders, cranes, or forklifts.
- Operation & Monitoring: Continuously monitor equipment during production cycles to ensure optimal speed, efficiency, and smooth output flow
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of manufactured parts or products using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, or gauges) to verify dimensions and detect defects.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM), clear jams, and diagnose/repair minor mechanical issues to prevent costly downtime.
- Documentation: Log production numbers, materials used, run times, and any equipment downtime or defects on daily activity reports or specialized software
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and facility health and safety guidelines, which includes wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and keeping the work area clean
- Key Qualifications & Skills
- On-the-job training is frequently provided for entry-level tasks.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive movements, and stand or bend for extended shifts.
- Mechanical Aptitude: A strong understanding of hand tools, basic mechanics, and how to troubleshoot or fix malfunctioning machinery.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Math & Measurement: Proficiency in basic math and the ability to read and use tape measures and metric systems accurately.
- Typical Working Conditions
- Environment: Fast-paced, sometimes noisy, and safety-sensitive manufacturing plants, warehouses, or assembly lines.
