Paint Blaster Helper - Day Shift
Job Description
A paint blaster helper assists industrial painters and blasters by preparing surfaces, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety on job sites. Daily tasks involve setting up equipment, taping or masking parts, moving materials, and cleaning up work areas once projects are completed. Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Assist in cleaning grease, rust, and dirt from parts using power tools, grinders, or sandblasting equipment.
- Masking and Taping: Cover or mask off areas not to be coated to protect intricate parts and ensure clean finishing lines.
- Equipment Maintenance: Load blasting media, connect air hoses, and clean spray guns, pots, and hoses after use.
- Material Handling: Move and position manufactured products or large industrial parts (pipes, skids, valves) using forklifts or overhead cranes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict OSHA and company safety guidelines, which include wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators and blasting hoods.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts, climb scaffolding, and frequently lift heavy items weighing 50 to 100 lbs.
- Respiratory Clearance: Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and safely wear a respirator or supplied-air hood.
- Experience: High school diploma is typically preferred but entry-level roles often provide on-the-job training for dependable candidates.
