Shift: 5pm - 3:30 am Monday - Friday and OT on Saturdays Job Summary
The Structural Department Press Brake Helper assists the primary Press Brake Operator in setting up, operating, and maintaining heavy-duty press brake machinery. This role focuses on the safe handling, loading, and positioning of large-scale structural steel plates and components. The helper plays a critical role in ensuring fabrication accuracy, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and maximizing production efficiency.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This role focuses on the safe handling, loading, and positioning of large-scale structural steel plates and components. The helper plays a critical role in ensuring fabrication accuracy, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and maximizing production efficiency.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist the Press Brake Operator with the safe setup and alignment of dies, tooling, and fixtures according to blueprints and structural schematics.
- Load, unload, and position heavy steel plates and structural components using overhead cranes, jib cranes, forklifts, or magnets.
- Material handling and staging, ensuring the correct materials are organized and ready for the production line.
- Perform precise measurements using calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges to assist in verifying part accuracy.
- Deburr, grind, and clean finished parts to remove sharp edges, slag, or scale before they move to the next department.
- Monitor machine operations and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality defects to the primary operator or supervisor.
- Follow all company safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe lifting techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area around the machinery.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of fabrication tools and the ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Experience operating or assisting with industrial machinery is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with overhead cranes and forklift operation is preferred; certification a plus.
- Ability to read or learn to read basic structural drawings and blueprints.

- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Continuous standing, bending, walking, and reaching throughout an 8 to 12-hour shift.
- Comfortable working in a loud, industrial shop environment subject to varying temperatures, dust, and sparks.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times, including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
