Job Description
Newton Design is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our team.
We are a quality supplier of simulation and training equipment, serving the aviation industry, law enforcement agencies, and military by designing, manufacturing, and delivering simulated aircraft interiors and exteriors for the purpose of training air crew and law enforcement.
The Electrical Technician will work with engineering utilizing drawings and wiring schematics, operate various hand tools and test equipment to ensure that all work meets our quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assemble, wire, install, test, and inspect electrical equipment, sub-assemblies, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and controls cabinets.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to complete tasks accurately.
- Use hand tools and diagnostic test equipment, including voltmeters, power supplies and other measurement instruments, to identify and resolve electrical issues.
- Diagnose equipment problems, perform repairs, and replace worn or defective parts such as switches, motors, pumps, or wiring.
- Manufacture and install electrical components to meet established industry and company quality standards.
- Participate in in-plant and on-site testing activities; troubleshoot and resolve issues with engineering support.
- Document completed work, discrepancies, and recommended process improvements in a clear and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members and engineering staff to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
- Travel occasionally for on-site installations, testing, or maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety, efficiency, and a professional work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience installing, assembling, testing, and repairing electrical equipment and systems.
- Experience using a desktop/laptop computer and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, navigating folders and drives, etc.
- Strong ability to use hand tools including wire cutters and strippers, crimpers, screw drivers, electric drills, and operate electrical diagnostic and test equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with high level attention to detail.
- Experience manufacturing or servicing wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, or similar components.
- Experience in wire and control circuit soldering.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Effective communication, documentation, and organization skills.

- Must be able to work occasional overtime if required to meet project deadlines
- All Newton Design facilities are climate controlled
- When traveling all bookings are made and paid for by Newton. Per diem is given ahead of travel
- This position requires moderate physical activity. Employees must have the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including light-moderate lifting walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting. This position requires climbing stairs/ladders and working in multiple environments
