Newton Design is seeking a skilled and motivated Upholstery Technician to join our team in fabricating, assembling, and completing high-quality aircraft interiors and seat upholstery.

We are a quality supplier of simulation and training equipment, serves the aviation industry, law enforcement agencies and military by designing, manufacturing, and delivering simulated aircraft interiors and exteriors for the purpose of training air crew and law enforcement.

The Upholstery Technician will operate various upholstery tools and sewing machines, interpret blueprints, and ensure all production meets our high standards. This position is ideal for candidates with a passion for hands-on work, auto restoration, and precision craftsmanship.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate and maintain power tools and hand tools to perform fabrication and assembly tasks.
  • Utilize sewing machines to sew fabric and components as required for projects.
  • Fabricate components according to design specifications and technical drawings.
  • Interpret drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and assembly operations.
  • Inspect tools and equipment regularly to ensure proper function and compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the manufacturing process, ensuring all parts meet quality specifications and production deadlines.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and enhance production efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and productivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in operating upholstery power tools and hand tools effectively.
  • Experience with sewing machines, including the ability to perform various types of stitching in fabric.
  • Knowledge of auto restoration techniques and practices is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to fabricate, assemble, and modify components as needed.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on producing quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Proficiency in using rulers, squares, measuring tape, and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project requirements.

Additional Information:

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime if required to meet project deadlines
  • All Newton Design facilities are climate controlled

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
